Marcus History
The Marcus Corporation was founded in 1935 by Ben Marcus with the purchase of a single movie theatre in Ripon, Wisconsin. The company expanded into the lodging business in 1962 with the purchase of The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee. Our growth and success are built on the Marcus Corporation founding principles of maintaining a strong financial position, owning and maintaining our real estate assets, focusing on quality and value, managing for the long term and building shareholder value.

Moving Forward, Giving Back
The Marcus Corporation has been giving back to its communities for over 80 years – a tradition we are happy to uphold to this day. We consider it our responsibility to contribute to the local economy and support the communities in which we work and live. Each year, The Marcus Foundation touches thousands of lives through contributions of time, leadership, and in-kind donations to non-profit organizations. In addition to financial contributions, in 2015, the company and our associates donated more than 28,000 hours of volunteer time and over $3.4 million in in-kind contributions to aid job creation, education, health, community development and social needs, and more.
